Healing Power from Nature wins international award
Cambridge, UK, 19th November 2008—Healing Power from Nature, the TRAFFIC / WWF film launched earlier this year, has won the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic prize at the 35th International Festival of Sustainable Development Films.
TRAFFIC’s Susanne Honnef, who helped write and guide the film’s content commented: “TRAFFIC and WWF are delighted to receive this recognition at the International Festival of Sustainable Development Films.”
“It is a credit to the film’s makers, and we trust the critical acclaim for Healing Power for Nature will help send its vital message further afield, so more people will understand the need to collect these vital wild plant resources in a sustainable manner.”
The film was created by nautilusfilm and directed by Jan and Melanie Haft and was made to promote the recently launched International Standard for Sustainable Wild Collection of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (ISSC-MAP).
Published in early 2007, ISSC-MAP provides companies, governments, resource managers and other stakeholders in the medicinal and aromatic plant sector specific guidance to develop sustainable use management systems for plants collected from the wild. The standard is currently receiving trials in a variety of field projects worldwide.
This film was financial supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
