Identifying the
pectoral fin

  • Long, nearly straight trailing edge
  • Narrowly rounded apex.
  • The dorsal surface is grey to greyish-brown.
  • The ventral surface is white with visible dusky coloration at the apex.

STATUS AND RANGE

The Silky Shark Carcharhinus falciformis is listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species™ and in CITES Appendix II.
