Identifying the
1st dorsal fin
- The dorsal fins of Giant Guitarfish are smaller than those of Wedgefish
- Fins are a dull brown to light grey in color
- Steep leading edge curving slightly towards the apex.
- Slight inward curve on trailing edge from apex to base.
STATUS AND RANGE
Giant Guitarfish Glaucostegidae is listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species™ and in CITES Appendix II.
