Strengthened Policy and Regulation Wildlife TRAPS

TRAFFIC is developing strategic partnerships with zoonotic disease experts, public health, and animal health practitioners – across government, inter-governmental, NGO, academia, and private sectors – to identify risk mitigation strategies to prevent future zoonotic spillover potential associated with trade in wild animals.

This includes policy guidance and development of strengthened regulations, including implementation and enforcement, to ensure wildlife trade is managed with attention to disease risk in tandem with heightened attention to existing frameworks requiring compliance with legality and sustainability standards. Thus also enhancing the identification of illegal, unsustainable, and unsafe practices.
