Proud to be an Official Nominator for the Earthshot Prize

Launched in 2020, the Earthshot Prize is the most prestigious global environment prize in history, aiming to find new solutions to the world’s biggest environmental problems.

Finalists and winners are given an incredible platform to amplify their work, as well as tailored support from The Earthshot Prize and its network of NGOs, businesses, governments, funders and expert mentors. The five winners also receive a one-of-a-kind award and a one-million-pound grant to scale their impact.

As an Official Nominator, we are one of over 300 organisations from across the world, invited to submit nominations across all five Earthshot categories, selected for our ability to identify the most impactful solutions across all sectors, from grassroots to businesses.

We will be nominating individuals, communities, businesses and organisations whose solutions make the most progress towards achieving the five Earthshots – simple but ambitious goals which if achieved by 2030 will improve life for us all, for generations to come.

The Earthshot Prize will consider solutions which make tangible progress towards one of the five Earthshots. They should be beyond idea stage, have tested their solution in-field or with target audiences, and are at a ‘tipping point’ for scaling their impact within the next five years.

2022 Winners

The 2022 winners were announced at the awards ceremony on December 2 in Boston:

Protect and Restore Nature Kheyti, India. Kheyti’s ‘Greenhouse-in-a-Box’ idea allows small-scale farmers to produce crops with higher yields and reduced climate risk, using less water and fewer pesticides.
Clean Our Air – Mukuru Clean Stoves, Kenya. By burning safer biomass fuels, Mukuru Clean Stoves create 90% less pollution than open fires, and 70% less than a traditional cookstove – better for both human and planetary health, and they’re cheaper too.
Revive Our Oceans – Indigenous Women of the Great Barrier Reef, Australia. Building the next generation of women rangers, conducting research and defending important ecosystems and cultural traditions.
Build a Waste-Free World – Notpla, UK. Notpla is a plastic alternative made from seaweed and plant materials, that can be used to replace single-use plastics in various industries.
Fix Our Climate – 44.01, Oman. 44.01 has discovered a way to speed up the natural mineralisation of CO2 in rock, which goes beyond carbon storage, to removing CO2 from the atmosphere permanently.
