Identifying the
dorsal fin

  • Uniform slate grey coloration
  • Tall, very erect fin due to steep angle of the leading edge.
  • Moderately rounded apex
  • Nearly straight trailing edge.
  • Short free rear tip.

STATUS AND RANGE

The Shortfin Mako Shark Isurus oxyrinchus is listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species™ and in CITES Appendix II.
