Supply Chain Management and Traceability Wildlife TRAPS

  English

Under the Wildlife TRAPS Project, TRAFFIC is taking a supply chain analysis approach to mapping where disease risks may need to be mitigated according to the priority human-animal interfaces particular to wild animal trade. This also includes studying existing systems that could be adapted to improve existing wildlife trade management – including traceability to ensure compliance with risk management measures between source and end-use.

Initial explorations have included learning from the Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points (HACCP) approach used in food safety to help identify those ‘critical control points’ in wildlife trade supply chains, the jurisdictions and accountability of agencies, and the actors involved.
