Cockatoo trader avoids jail

A former wildlife officer in Western Australia has received a 2-year suspended jail sentence for his involvement in the illegal transfer of 9 White-tailed and 2 Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos to Victoria, reports ABC News

A former officer for Western Australia's Department of Conservation and Land Management (CALM) has avoided a jail term over his involvement in the illegal transfer of cockatoos to Victoria.

Andrew Ando was found guilty by a jury on a charge of corruption over the export to Victoria of 9 white-tailed black cockatoos in 2004.
