On 12 August, Customs in Guangdong Province seized 14.5 kg of pangolin scales after an X-ray machine revealed them in a passenger's luggage who had arrived from Hong Kong, reports a Chinese Government website

Tortoises seized in China

In early August, Gengma forest police in Yunnan province seized 73.4 kg of tortoises along the China-Myanmar border. They included 46 Elongated Tortoises Indotestudo elongate, a CITES Appendix II listed species and 21 Wattle-necked Soft-shelled Turtles Palea steindachneri, a national second-class protected wild animal in China.
