New York, USA, 21st October 2016—With possibly as few as 4,000 snow leopards surviving in the wild, a new report from TRAFFIC has found that hundreds of the endangered big cats are being killed illegally each year across their range in Asia’s high mountains.

Tiger cub among menagerie of animals seized in Malaysia enforcement operations

Putrajaya, Malaysia, 20th October 2016—In a string of five raids yesterday, the Department of Wildlife and National Parks Peninsular Malaysia (PERHILITAN) seized 32 wild animals including a Tiger cub and arrested 5 people including one buyer.

Four Leopards a week enter India’s illegal wildlife trade

New Delhi, India, 28th September 2012—At least four Leopards have been poached and their body parts entered into illegal wildlife trade every week for at least 10 years in India, according to TRAFFIC’s latest study “Illuminating the Blind Spot: A study on illegal trade in Leopard parts in India” launched today by Dr Divyabhanusinh Chavda, President, WWF-India.

TRAFFIC's annual snapshot into the state of the wildlife trade in China in 2008 was launched today at the CITES meeting in Qatar Click photo to enlarge   Doha, Qatar, 16 March 2010 — Porous borders are allowing vendors in Myanmar to offer a door-to-door delivery service for illegal wildlife products such as tiger bone wine to buyers in China, according to TRAFFIC’s latest snapshot into wildlife trade in China.

The State of Wildlife Trade in China 2008, released today, is the third in an annual series on emerging trends in China’s wildlife trade.

The report found that over-exploitation of wildlife for trade has affected many species and is stimulating illegal trade across China’s borders.
